    Deacon Samuel Tenney, born in Bradford, Mass., 20 Nov., 1667, son of Deacon John and Mercy (Parrat); married Abigail Bailey, daughter of Deacon Joseph and Abigail (Trumbull) of Bradford, now Groveland, Mass. … He married in Bradford, 18 Dec., 1690, his second wife, Sarah Boynton, daughter of Captain Joseph and Sarah (Swan) of Bradford. … He was published 14 Dec., 1709, to Hannah Moody of Newbury, Mass., and was married 26 Jan., 1710-11, to his third wife, Hannah Moody, by Rev. Mr. Tappan. Mrs. Hannah Tenney … a daughter of Samuel Moody, of Newbury, Mass. … Residence Bradford, now Groveland, Mass. In 1712 he was appointed deacon "while the town worshipped together." (Perry's Hist., p. 61) Samuel Tenney was moderator of the first Parish meeting of East Bradford. (Perry, p. 40.) In "1713, Dea. Samuel Tenney town Clerk this year." (Bradford Record.) Tythingham [Tithing Man], 1694-5. Fence viewer, 1692-7. Selectman, 1690-4, 1722 and 1726. Feb. 2, 1712, the church met "very generally" and chose Lieut. Samuel Tenney and Sergeant Baily for something indistinct in Record. (Church Record.) He was chosen ruling elder for "East end" 28 Mch., 1718, receiving every vote but one at church meeting of fifty-two brothers. (Church Manual, 46, 47.). The one vote was very probably his own.
