John Tenney, born in Bradford (now Groveland), Mass., 8 December, 1692, son of Elder Samuel and Sarah (Boynton); married in Rowley, Mass., 23 January, 1717-18, Hannah Jewett, daughter of Deacon Maximilian and Sarah (_____) Jewett of Rowley. Mrs. Tenney was born 6 April, 1699, baptized 9 April, 1699, and united with the church in Bradford 24 April, 1720. Residence, Bradford, Mass., where he united with the First Congregational Church 1 May, 1720. Mr. Tenney died 23 August, 1732. Widow Hannah appointed administratrix 6 October, 1732. (Essex Deeds, 67:238.) Daniel Tenney of Bradford was a surety on her bond of £1,000. Inventory on the personal property, amount £221.1s., besides land and buildings. The widow was allowed £40 "for bringing up ye young children." Receipts on file for shares in the estate signed by Jonathan Tenney, guardian of John, a minor, Philip Tenney, for David and Ebenezer, Maximilian and Hannah, minors. (Essex Deeds, 319:149.)
