She attended high school in Sisseton, SD and then Pierre SD high school where she graduated in 1931; and attended Aberdeen South Dakota Normal school. She taught school at Dupree, South Dakota. She worked in Washington D. C. going to law school at night. She was in the WAVES in Hawaii during WW II. She worked in the Department of Ships in Washington, D. C. She lived in Brazil with Lee Bettinger Lived in Oswego, Oregon after retiring till Lee died then moved to Minneapolis. in 1980. She was awarded membership in the National Honor Society. She attended Northern Normal and Industrial School, Aberdeen, S.D., 1933-34. She taught public schools at Dupree, S.D., 1934-35. She attended National University Law School, Washington, D.C., on a scholarship received from Kappa Beta Pi (International Legal Sorority), received honorable mention for scholarship the first year and the real property award the second year. She graduated June 13, 1939, ranking fifth in class of 234. She is a member of Omicron chapter, Kappa Beta Pi, was admitted to law practice before the District Court of the United States for Dist. of Columbia, Dec 6, 1939, and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Dist. of Columbia June 5, 1940. She was employed as typist and stenographer for various government offices 1935-38. In 1941 she was stenographer and secretary for Federal Communications Commission, Washington, D.C., and since Dec 1, 1940, was also Junior Attorney for same. She was commissioned as an Ensign, U. S. Naval Reserve, Nov 10, 1942. Served in Washington, D. C. and Pearl Harbor, Territory of Hawaii. Released to inactive duty 4 Jan 1946 with a rank of Lieutenant U.S.N.R.
