She attended Sisseton High School in Sisseton South Dakota graduating in 1922; St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minnesota; Fairview Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis, Minnesota graduating in 1929 with an R.N.; University of Minnesota graduating in 1948 with a B.S. She was housekeeper for her parents during her mother's illness, 1922-25. She worked at Parkview Sanitarium, Minneapolis, 1930-41, toured the west with a friend during the summer of 1941 and enlisted for military duty in the U.S. Army 9 September 1941, initially for one year's service. During 1941 and 1942 she was a Second Lieutenant, Army Nurses' Corp, Ft . Joseph Robinson, Little Rock, Arkansas. In June of 1942 she went to Australia, in April 1943 to New Guinea, in October 1944 to Biak, and in Nov 1945 to San Francisco, California where she was discharged in November 1945. She then became a Staff Nurse at the Veterans Hospital, Minneapolis from May 6, 1946 to Dec 21, 1946. She was Director of Public Health Nursing at Los Alamos New Mexico from April 1950 to Aug 1956. Assistant Director of Visiting Nurses San Diego California Nov 1956 to Feb 1957. Public health Nurse with the Veteran's Administration Outpatient clinic in San Diego May 1957 to Dec 1961. Private duty nurse until July 1972 when she retired. References
