Will of Robert Leeper, State of South Carolina
In the name of God, Amen. I Robert Leeper of York County and State of South Carolina, being weak in body, but of perfect mind and memory, think fit to make this my last will and Testament.
I resign my Soul to its Creator in all humble hope of its future happiness, as into the disposal of a being infinitely good. As to my Body my will is that it be buried in a decent Christian manner, and I do hereby appoint my daughter Blanch Leeper, and Williams Maclean of Lincoln County State of North Carolina, to be the Executrix & Executor of this my last will and Testament. ~
My Will is that my Estate be disposed of in the following manner. ~
First, to my Son Robert Leeper I give and Devise my silver watch which I have long worn as, as a memorial of me.
Item. To my Grand Daughter Catherine Leeper eldest daughter to my son Robert Leeper, I give and devise a Nagroe Girl named Fanny.
Item. to my son James Leeper I give and devise the sum of five shillings sterling, and my will is that this small sum be considered as the only part of my Estate to which he is indebted.
Item, to my daughter Blanch Leeper, I give and devise my stock of Horses, Cows, Sheep, and Hogs, also my Household Furniture together with three negroes, named Sam, Doll & Pheve, and my will is that these three negroes and two others which are named Dick, and Frank, be kept together and the produce of their labour be considered as equally belonging to Blanch and my son John Leeper, while it may be found convenient for the said Blanch and John to live together, and further my will is that in case she marries the above three negroes shall be vested in her Heirs of her own Body, then my will is that the above Negroes and their issue discent to my son John.
Item. To my son John Leeper I give and divise the sum of sixty pounds in money, also in case he enters in to the Estate of Matrimony and finds it not consistant with his interest to live with his Sister Blanch or her with him, my will is that he shall have two of the negroes named Dick and Franck, to be for his sels use and benefit, and further my will toward my son John is that if he thinks proper to learn & does learn the blacksmith's Trade, that he shall have and enjoy all my blacksmith Tools and Shep furniture, & if he does not incline to comply with this article, my will is that they be sold and the money arising be appropriated to the use of my Daughter Blanch. -- By meaning further is with respect to the sixty pounds which I devised to John that that is be paid at eight shillings the Dollar. -- This I do make ordain and appoint as my last will and Testament.

ROBERT LEEPER A BROTHER TO IMMIGRANT JAMES LEEPER AND UNCLE TO NICHOLAS AND JAMES LEEPER

Year 1742, Robert Leeper's name appears on the militia of Capt John Smith's Company in Augusta County, Virginia. Page 34 Book 2 Robert Leeper - A memorial for 325 acres of land in Mecklenburg County, N.C. on the north side of Catawba River at Mill Creek was certified February 25, 1767 by Governor Tryon or N.C, for me and also 800 acres of land on the south side of Catawba River 'Wateree. S.C.' May have been the Broad River below the Forks at the mouth of said river and granted to me August 30, 1753 by Matthew Rowan Lt. Governor of N.C. but now a state line has been located there, and these lands are found to be in S.C.. A tax return was made in Charleston, S.C. December 11, 1772 by Robert Leeper in person. Conclusion- Josuah Leeper was in old upper Beaufort county by 1753. by 1771 Robert Leeper was in York county by 1753 but thought himself to be in N.C.

Unable to locate Robert Leeper in the 1790 census but there is a will record of Robert Leeper dated April 13, 1795 WILL 'no date' in York South Carolina Four children are listed 1. Robert Leeper Jr. 2. Eldest daughter Cathrine Leeper 3. Blanche Leeper and she EX with William McLean of Lincoln County, North Carolina 4. John Leeper my eldest son, I give the lands in Lincoln County and York County, South Carolina. both are mentioned. Since John Leeper my son and daughter Blanche Leeper have never married if they wish to retain the home plantation and slaves together. That is permissible providing they live in the home together, otherwise they may divide the plantation. WITNESSED : William McLean, Robert Johnston and Joseph Beaty.
