Richard married Louisa Johnston 23apr1793 at Edinburgh and Haddington, E. Lothian (IGI). Louisa (d. 1797) was daughter of Wynne Johnston of Hilton, Merse (Burke's Landed Gentry, 2001). Louisa d. at Lisbon, Portugal (Latter day saints). Richard (b. 18feb1771) married Lilias Montgomerie or MacQueen aug1817 at St. Quivox and Newton, Ayrshire (IGI). Richard, son of George Oswald and Margaret Smith, marroed Lilias Montgomerie, daughter of Hugh Earl of Eglintoun Montgomerie and Eleonora Hamilton 21aug1817 at Kilwinning, Ayrshire (IGI). Lady Lilias (d. 10sep1845) was widow of Robert Dundas MacQueen of Braxfield and daughter of Hugh Montgomerie, 12th Earl of Eglinton (Burke's Landed Gentry, 2001). Robert Burns wrote a poem about Louisa/Lucy Johnston. Richard of Auchincruive introduced cricket to Scotland (Glasgow past and present, vol 3).
