There passed away at her home in Brussels on Thursday, Rebecca Dark, in her 89th year. Born in Fullarton Township, Perth County, in 1848, she was the oldest child of George Dark and Ann Furzman. In 1853 the family moved to Grey Township, Huron County, and settled on the 11th con. where she lived for many years, coming to Brussels seventeen years ago with her brother William and sister Mrs. Wm. Gordon. She leaves to mourn her loss, three sisters, Mrs. Chas. Fox, Riding Mountain, Man.; Mrs. Robert Gordon, Saskatoon and Mrs. William Gordon, Brussels, and five brothers, George Dark, Carman, Man.; William and Robert Dark, Brussels; John Dark, Stratford, and James Dark, Neepawa, Man.
The family to which Miss Dark belonged has been considered a very remarkable family in this district. Of the family of ten children, the first break occurred in June 1934, when Benjamin, the youngest member of the family passed away at Galt at the age of 67. Their total ages up until now is 755 years. The funeral held Saturday afternoon with interment in Brussels cemetery.
