    Phyllis Virginia Steele, age 86, 807 E. Main Street, Akron, died on March 24, 2015 at 9:47 p.m. at her residence.

    She was born on June 24, 1928 in Wabash County, Indiana to Carl and Marie (Crumrine) Summers. Phyllis lived most of her life in Akron coming from Wabash.

    Phyllis married Max Wayne Huffman on November 7, 1946 in Akron, Indiana. He died on December 21,1969 at the age of 45. She then married Paul F. Steele on January 29, 1972 in Chesterton, Indiana. He died on August 9, 2004 at the age of 89.

    Phyllis worked at General Tire in Wabash, Chamberlains in Akron and Invensy Controls in North Manchester. She attended the Akron Church of God and enjoyed meeting with the Goldenaires at the church. She collected cardinals and painted woodcraft items made by her husband Paul. They owned P & P Woodcraft and attended several craft events selling their products.

    Surviving Phyllis are (4) children: Thomas J. Huffman (spouse Nancy) of Rochester; Ronald E. Huffman (spouse Doris) of Macy; Bonnie L. Fields (partner Paul Pyle) of Akron; and Max (spouse Lori) Huffman of Rochester; (7) brothers: Glen (spouse Ruth Anna) Summers of Wabash; Jim (spouse Marge) Summers of Lagro; Richard (spouse Barbara) of Chesterton; Jack (spouse Carolyn) Summers of Wabash; Rex Summers of Wabash; Bernard (spouse Becky) of Texas; and Robert (spouse Joyce) of Wabash; (1) sister: Helen Rough of Peru; (17) grandchildren; (27) great-grandchildren; and (4) great, great-grandchildren.

    Preceding Phyllis in death were her parents, (1st husband) Max Huffman, (2nd husband) Paul Steele, (2) brothers: Maurice and Ralph Summers; (1) sister: Judy Murphy; (1) son: Donald Wayne Huffman; and (1) son-in-law: George A. Fields.

    The visitation will be on Monday, March 30, 2015 at the Earl-Love Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The service will be at 2:00 p.m. following visitation officiated by Rev. Terry Canfield. Burial will be in the Akron IOOF Cemetery.
