    She was born in Wabash County to Carl and Carrie Marie (Crumrine) Summers. She married John E. Murphy on Sept. 7, 1952. He died March 11, 2001.

    She was a member of Middle Street Wesleyan Church. She lived in LaFontaine for 40 years before moving to Wabash.

    She is survived by two daughters, Jane (Randy) Jones of Abingdon, Md., Mary (John) Bennett, Raleigh, N.C.; eight brothers, Glen (Ruth Anna), Wabash, Jim (Marge), Lagro, Jack (Carolyn), LaFontaine, Bob (Joyce), Wabash, Rex, Wabash, Ralph, Geneva, Ala., Richard (Barbara), Valparaiso, and Bernard (Becky), Royse City, Texas; two sisters, Phyllis Steele, Akron, and Helen Roush, Floral City, Fla.; two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

    She was preceded in death by a brother, Maurice.
