Peter Scholl, of whose nativity we know nothing at present, who must have been born around 1685-90, is found located in the Raritan region, New Jersey, with first wife Deborah, whom he must have married as early as 1713, and who must have died between August 26, 1726 and the end of 1727, and secondly with a wife Sarah Kalyer, or Colyer, of whose birth and death no positive data are at hand. The Children's births are recorded on the baptismal records of the First Reformed Church of the Raritan, Somerville, New Jersey, the first five by the first wife and the last two by the second, who are baptised at the Harlinger Dutch Church made about the same time by separation from the Somerville Church.

    [several paragraphs omitted]
Peter Scholl appeared early in the Shenandoah Valley. Capt. Peter Scholl was on the muster roll of Augusta County in 1742; was made Justice in Augusta County, 1745; commissioned Coroner April 14, 1746 and served a number of years; commissioned Captain of the company of infantry, August 19, and Colonel, August 21, 1752; lived on "Reed Creek" in 1752; served as appraiser and surety on a number of occastions; in 1764, February 23, he received as a bequest by Will from Rev. Phillip Charles Vangemunday his son George Frederick Peter, evidently as a ward, and was there called Col. Peter Scholl; finally on May 25, 1765, as Peter Scholl, in behalf of the Presbyterian Church, he became as co-trustee with Michael Neise a grantee of land "for the Glory of God and the Preaching of his Precious Gospel", three acres granted by Adam Reider and Alexander Painter and their wives. This Deed was not delivered until January 16, 1785, but it is not necessary to assume that Col. Peter Scholl was still living at the delivery date, though he would not be much above 90 years, if alive.
