Nellie Ann Hawkins, born 30 August 1882 in Tipton County, Indiana, was the first child of Jonas E. and Louisa (Turner) Hawkins. She was a big framed women, could do a man's work, and could repair every thing. She laid the hardwood floors in her home, and her house and yard were always immaculate. She was a founder of the H and H club near Sharpsville. Ulysses G. Henderson, born 26 November 1876 in Tipton County, Indiana, and Nellie were married 5 February 1902, and had one child, Pauline LaVerna, born 14 September 1903. Pauline was married to William J. Ranke, who was born in 1900. All are buried in the Sharpsville, Indiana cemetery, and share a common head stone. William Ranke died in 1962, Ulysses died 15 June 1966, Nellie died 1 March 1968, and Pauline, who was living in Indianapolis, died 7 June 1974. ............. Mrs. Nellie Henderson [Obituary] TIPTON - Mrs. Nellie A. Henderson, 85, Sharpsville R. R. 2, died at 8 p.m. Friday at the Ace Nursing home near Indianapolis. Born Aug. 30, 1882, in Tipton County, she was the daughter of Jonas and Louisa (Turner) Hawkins. In March, 1902 in Tipton County, she was married to Ulysses Henderson, who died in June, 1966. A resident of Tipton County all her life, she started the H and H Club near Shaprsville in 1920. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Pauline Ranke, Indianapolis; one brother, Mont Hawkins, Tipton County, four sisters, Mrs. Isaac (Zelma) Henderson and Mrs. Koral Dark, both of Tipton, Mrs. Sam (Berniece) Bollenbacher, Miami, Fla,., and Mrs. Haines (Marjorie) Sleeth, Kokomo; and. several nieces and nephews. Funerals services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Leatherman-Morris Funeral Home here, with burial in the Sharpsville Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
