Marjorie Lorraine Hawkins and Haines William Sleeth were married in Tipton County, Indiana on 2 January 1925, and had three children, Anna Louise born 11 October 1925, Maurice Eugene born 6 September 1931, and Carol Sue born 16 September 1934. At the time of the wedding, Marjorie was a member of the senior class of Ward Belmont College in Nashville, Tennessee, and Haines, a member of the Kokomo faculty, had just been named as the principal of the new Jefferson school.
Marjorie, was born 20 October 1905 in Tipton County, and had a twin sister Mary Lois. Mary died in the influenza epidemic of 1918. Being twin daughters of one of the most prominent men in the county, they were very much in the public eye. People always turned to look, and they would be pointed out. Both were very self conscious of the attention, and Marjorie was always very shy, to the point that she was unable to get up in front of a group of people. Marjorie had a phobia of fire and she was claustrophobic to the point that she did not like even the window curtains closed. She would tell that cousin Pauline and sister Berniece would shut them in the closet so that they would not have to play with them. According to Marjorie, her mother never got over the death of Mary Lois. Marjorie was very active in the Presbyterian church, and she liked to play cards, particularly bridge.
Haines, born 23 January 1899 in Wabash County, Indiana was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War I. He received a BS degree from Butler U., and a MA from Indiana U.,and he devoted his entire life to education. He coached, taught history and mathematics, and was principal at many of the Kokomo and Center Township, Indiana schools.
Haines died on 5 December 1976. Marjorie died 22 March 1986. They are buried together in the Sharpsville, Indiana cemetery. Source: HAWKINS From Tipton County Indiana A Migrating American Family 1861-2001 by Phillip A. Hawkins ©2002.

A PAH query to daughter Carol Sue, "Wondering if Marjorie ever indicated how the twins could be distinguished in their pictures?" Sue responded that they were the same in every way except one had more freckles than the other but don't know which one that was."
