From Colonial Families of Anne Arundel County, Maryland

According to interviews with family members conducted many years ago by the late Dr. Caleb Dorsey, Naomi Barnes Pool was an excellent horsewoman, and was trained in the art of healing, quite an advantage in a day and time when doctors were practically non-existent. She once rode a horse after dark into that part of Carroll County known as "Wolf Bottom," to rescue a little girl who had wandered into the wolf-infested forest.

She was a member of the Methodist Church for over 76 years.
