Facts and Events
!BIR: birth record (S-5:25) Said to have died from tetanus/blood poisoning from stepping on a rusty nail. Buried at Battle Ground Cememtery. (Wyman) Obit: "Mildred Fairchild died at 8:30 o'clock Saturday night at St. Elizabeth hospital from blood poisoning. She was 4 years old and was a daughter of Charles Fairchild, who lives on the W. S. Baugh farm near Reynolds. She ran a rusty nail into her right foot on last Monday and the injury produced blood poisoning. She was brought to the city on Friday night and was taken to the hospital. She was a bright and pretty little girl and the parents have the sympathy of their friends in their bereavement. The remains were taken to the home of the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Fairchild, at Taylor's Station, where services will be held this morning at 10 o'clock. The remains will then be taken to Battle Ground where services will be held in the Methodist church this afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Rev. Albert L. Miller will officiate and the interment will be made in the Battle Ground cemetery." (date not recorded; presumably from the Lafayette Journal & Courier the week following her death) |
