Family bible says she was born at Union City, Randolph, IN.

MARR: Marriage record (24-391) says her name is C. Blanche Harris, age 17, from Battle Ground IN, born in IN, father was Moses Harris, mother was Jane Davis. She was married to Charles A. Fairchild by W. E. McKenzie on Aug 18, 1904.

BUR: Buried in Rest Haven Cemetery on Greenbush Ave./US 52 in Lafayette, Indiana.

Blanche boarded out with Jerimiah and Emily Thornell some time after the death of her mother in 1892. The census for 1900 shows her living with the Thornells in Battle Ground,Tippecanoe,Indiana. Jerimiah and Emily are buried in Indiana Veterans Home near Battle Ground, Tippecanoe, Indiana. Jerimiah served in the Indiana 150th Infantry.

OBIT: "Mrs. Blanche S. Fairchild, 72, of 27 N. 25th, died in St. Elizabeth hospital at 7:10 p.m. Tuesday. She had been in failing health two and a half years and in the hospital only a few minutes. She left 69 descendants.

         "Born at Winchester, she spent most of her life in this community and was married to Charles A. Fairchild in 1904. She was a member of the First Christian church, Gold Star Mothers of World War II and the VFW and the Spanish-American auxilliaries.
          "Survivng with the husband are two sons, Weldon H. of Terre Haute and Charles A. Jr., of Lafayette; seven daughters, Mrs. Raymond Patterson, Mrs. Patricia Carpenter, Mrs. Robert pechin, Mrs. Doris Ceglarski, Mrs. Thomas Rund, and Mrs. Carl Isenbarger, all of Lafayette, and Mrs. Roland Dick of Chalmers; a sister, Mrs. Mildred Geyer of Richmond, and a brother, Chester Harris of Columbus, O." (Lafayette Journal & Courier, Feb 10, 1960)

Phyllis Isenbarger said that Blanche had a brother and sister (half siblings?) that were split up for some time due to the death of their mother. Blanche finally found Mildred/Edna? in Richmond when Phyl was about 6, found Chester in Dayton OH when Phyl was about 12.
