Mary Jane Conley apparently fell in love with a man from near Independence and had her first-born, Elizabeth Hansen, at age 18 years. She later married John F. Greaser and had nine more children.

She spent the majority of her life as a housewife at her home west of Kingwood, near the present-day location of the W.F.S.P. radio station. She died near Reedsville, at the home of her granddaughter, Audrey Fraley, at the age of 92 years, 5 months and 9 days.

She was heard to recall tales from her father stating that the family came from Ireland. She stated that several people died on the trip to America and their bodies were thrown overboard.

She is buried in the St. Joseph's Cemetery at Howesville.
