John Greaser was an oil distributor and lived near Kingwood. According to the family, he was extremely hard of hearing and used a horn in his ear to magnify the sound. Even with this device, people had to yell into the horn. This apparently was an inherited trait, as his son John also was deaf. He was baptized by Father Muller on 2/25/1855 and is buried in the St. Joseph's Cemetery near Howesville, WV.
