The State of Mississippi Clarke County

In the name of God Amen I Martha Shoemaker being of sound and disposing mind and memory and desirous of declaring my last will and testament: In the first place I give my body to the dust and my soul to God who gave it.

My worldly effects that I have to bequeath consists of a pension which has accumulated and is quarterly accumulating from the Government out of which on my death I desire a decent burrial of my body to be paid for.

The ballance The ballance [sic] whatever there may be I bequeath as follows - To each of my children that are alive and the descendants of those that are dead one dollar, that is to the heirs of William Shoemaker (who is dead) one dollar

To the children of Susanah Massey (who is dead) one dollar. To Mary Alexander one dollar-To Elizabeth Slay one dollar. To the children of John Shoemaker (who is dead) one dollar To Agness Gren[?] and her husband one dollar, The children of Martha Shoemaker one dollar

To the children of Lucinda Slay (who is dead) one dollar

To the children of Diannah Russell (who is dead) one dollar

To Mosses Shoemaker one dollar, To the children of Mont Slay (who is dead) one dollar. The ballance of said pension I give and bequeath to my son TW Shoemaker for his dind attention to me in my old age.

It is my earnest wish and desire that my aforesaid son TW Shumaker act as executor of this my last will and testament-without being required to give bond and security-that he pay each of the part bequeathed take their receipts for the same-if first executor to do so then be discharged from further liability or responsibility or cost in the processes, but with this condition that if I survive my aforesaid son TW Shoemaker then on my death whatever remains of my aforesaid pension is to be equally divided between all of my children and the descendants of those that are dead-they to meet and divide the same without any court cost or charges.

In witness whereof I have signed and sealed this instrument published and declared the same as my last will and testament the 13 day of August A D 1884
