Mrs. Martha Dybdal Wendell, Grant County, Minnesota Martha was born on the farm Tostenrud, Sundseie, in Sigdal. Her parents were Elling Nilsen and Anne Tostenrud. She came to America with her parents in 1868. The trip took eight weeks and three days. Fourteen people died at sea. They landed in Quebec and went from there to Spring Grove in Houston County, Minnesota. In 1876 she was married to Asle E. Dybdal. In 18 they moved to Grant County and bought land in Stony Brook township, where they now live. Their marriage has been blessed with twelve children, six sons and six daughters, and all are living in Grant County. A few are married. Mrs. Dybdal's father was born in Sigdal. His parents were Nils and Anne Ramstad. Her mother was the daughter of Ellen and Gunhild Sortebaer in Krødsherad. Her parents both lived until they were over 80 years old. She has three brothers and two sisters who live in Grant county. Asle Dybdal was born in the year 1853 at a place on Sønsteby in Flå, Hallingdal, to parents Ellen and Berit Dybdal.
