Old Augusta Records for Margaret Black

Overview

Wife of Thomas Black (15). Thomas came to America prior to 1740 when he swore his importation, identifying "Margot" as his wife. SInce he purchased land on Beverley Manor in 1738, the couple must have imported prior to 1738, probably through Philadelphia. This implies that Margaret was an adult in 1738, and so most likely born prior to 1720, assuiming she was at least 18 at marriage.

We have only a few additional records for Margaret.

JOhnson and Dunning are probably servants, rather than relations.

We have no records for either Thomas or Margaret after 1774, nor do we have any records to indicate that they had children. In 1774, the date of the last record we have for him, Thomas would probably have been in his 60's. The couple may have left the area after this date, as we have located neither a will or probate record.
