Obituary Lois "Billie" Barnes

BARNES, Lois "Billie" - Age 89, passed away on 22 February 2002 at a care cnter in Eugene, Oregon. She was born 28 august 1912 on the Cooper Mountain homestead in Washington County, Oregon. She was the daughter of Christian and Mary Syverson who were immigrant settlers. On September 1, 1931 in Hillsboro, Oregon Billie married Herbert L. Barnes, who preceded her in death. Billie lived in Roseburg for 11 years after moving from Cowlitz County, Washington. She was a housewife and mother. She worked in food service and was in partnership with her husband in a truck business, logging business (a non-traditional female job) and love of life. She was a member of the Square and Round Dancing Clubs Ruff & Ruffles and R (square) D in Longview, Washington. Also the Buccaroos Club in Roseburg, Oregon and various other Square and Round Clubs in Oregon and Arizona. She enjoiyed cribbage, cooking, gardening and pinochle. Preceded in death by six brothers and five sisters and her husband of 61 years, who died in 1992. Services will be a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 3, 2002 at Westside Christian Church, 2712 W. Harvard Ave., Roseburg, Oregon.
