Alabama Death Records 1908-59. Could not find listed. I found it listed as "Lee" Cited in the Alabama Death Records; Vol 28,Cert. 13856, Role 3. I have no other information. Dalton, I talked to one of the Sauls today.We are talking about the same Millie. My great, great grandmother�Louiza also had a brother John, another brother Lee a sister named Zem and a sister� named Millie. From my understanding, their father died and their mother raised them herself .I'm sure there are more siblings but people can't remember them all.I was told that John Nix was a farmer and a preacher and had only one eye. Have you heard any of this? John Nix also has a son or a great grandson named NJ Nix he is still alive in Crossville Alabama .I tried to contact him today,but I did not get an answer.Maybe he can remember some of the dates. I'm kind of afraid how some of these people are going to act when you call and ask them questions.Does any of this information help you put any of this together? I had been told by some other members of the family that I should look in DeKalb County, but I could never identify the correct person. In fact i was never sure just what name he used. The answer is YES I would appreciate any information that you can supply on this family. I have had problems following the family. The Father, Thomas B. Nix was dead when his Mothers will was read in Oct of 1877. He was very young, only 28. I have not been able to determine the conditions associated with his early death. That left the wife with several small children, and I have not been able to trace them. I would appreciate any assistance that you could supply. I will attempt to follow up on what you have supplied, and search the DeKalb County Census records. Always willing to assist and share. So many people have done nice things for me � sharing their family histories � that I want to do the same for others whose paths I cross. I had a book on the Roden family printed in 1979, so acquired information on the Nix women who intermarried into the Roden family. The three Nix sisters (on whom I have information) are: 1. Beulah J. Nix ,b. 9 Apr. 1902, DeKalb Co., Ala ,d. 11 Sep. 1999,__________ (she was a resident of Crossville, Ala., when she died),bur. Mt. Pleasant Cem.,about four miles south of Crossville. She md. 2 May 1920, Crossville, Ala., to Bud Rogers Roden,1880-1971. They had two daughters: Hazel Wonease Roden who died as an infant,and Wanda Ruth Roden,who was living when her mother died and at that time she was still unmarried. I have information on Bud and Hazel. 2.Ella E. Nix, b. 16 Mar 1904 ,DeKalb Co., Ala., d. 11 May 1983, Gadsden,Ala. ,bur. Belchers Chapel Cem., about 7 to 8 miles south of Crossville, in DeKalb Co., but not far from the Etowah Co. line. She md. 16 Nov 1919,DeKalb Co. ,Ala., to Jerry Lamar Roden, 1894-1982,a first cousin to the above mentioned Bud Roden. Seven children. I have informationon Jerry and the seven grandchildren and on some of the grandchildren. 3.Camie Odessa Nix,b.4 Feb.1906, DeKalb co.,Ala., d. 22 Dec 1943,Gadsden, Ala., bur. Belchers Chapel Cem. She md. 21 Mar 1922,DeKalb Co., Ala., to Willie Ester Roden, a brother to Jerry and first cousin to Bud. Four children � two daughters and two sons. The sons are dead � not certain about the daughters. I know of one additional child for Lee Nix, a son Reuben Nix,who was liste as a surviving brother in Ella Nix Roden�s obituary. He was living in Crossville when Ella did in 1983.

Belchers Chapel Cem. He md. Betty Perkins. His obituary does not list Betty as a survivor . I do not know whether she died or if their was a divorce. He and Betty had two sons: a.Willie J. Roden b. Johnny Mack Roden. I have underlined and put in bold the ones that I met at some point. However, all of them but one were in they ear 1970 and so would more than likely have no memory of who I am. The exception is Charles Douglas Roden who I met, I think, in 1999. He is a retired school teacher living in the Gadsden area. If you obtain additional information on this family please let me know. I am particularly interested in Lee Nix� s wife Artie / Arty Jones. I suspect she may be the same as Susan A. Jones, b. abt 1877, in western Etowah Co., close to the Blount Co .line, the dau of William Robert Jones and Nancy Catherine Hill. Nancy Hill is related to my wife on the Scott line. Who is the grandson? Lee would have been 40 when he was born, not impossible but a bit of a push. I do not have any records of Lee being married before but possible? Calvin b 1925 I did not have Herman, and Launa listed. Also I have some material on the family of Carl. This came from another cousin and I think she told me that she had talked to Carl in person. Carl NIX married Rheudell CHUMLEY and they had the following children: Rita, Hugh, Carolyn, Cathy, Charles, Barmie, and Clyde. No dates on any of that.
Mr. Nix. John Franklin (Frank) Nix, 82 , Crossville Rt# 2, died Monday at the residence. Funeral services were to be today at 2 p.m. at Mt Pleasant Baptist Church with the bural in the adjoining cemetery. Survivors: wife, Mrs. Nora Mullins Nix. sons, Calvin, N.J. and Barney, Nix all of Crossville. Carl and Clyde Nix, both of Boaz, 15 grandchildren. 13 great great grandchildren sisters Mrs Ella Roden, and Mrs Buelah Roden, both of Crossville; brothers Oliver and Reuben Nix both of Crossville.
