In 1840 he appears in Bennets Bagore, Hunterdon, New Jersey

Note: On 30 Jan 1850 he bought 50 feet frontage property on Front St. in West Haven. On 4 Aug 1851 he sold off 25 feet of this.

Note: Isaac T. Rodenbaugh gives his date of birth as 16 FEB 1817. John Todd gives his date of birth as 16 FEB 1818 and states that he was killed in an accident in California. John Emmet Todd gives marriage date as Nov. 21, 1839. IGI on FamilySearch gives marriage date of 13 Nov., 1839.

Notes by John Emmet Todd, 1896: "Josiah Rodenbaugh. Born Feb. 16, 1818. Married Mary McElroy Nov. 21, 1839. She died, and he married again. Lived up until that time at Galesburg, Ill. Was an engineer on the C. B. and Q. R. R. Went to California about 1866 and disappeared. Was vaguely heard of as being killed in a wreck some years after. Josiah had two children by his second wife, but I cannot learn anything of them."
