Notes by Anna Marie Dahlquist, 2003, based on family papers and material from the PA genweb site: When Trappe was incorporated on September 21, 1896, it took its area solely from Upper Providence Township in Montgomery County, PA. This was the area where Henry Rodenbaugh pastored for so long. Rev. Henry Smith Rodenbaugh was also for a time in charge of the Washington Hall boarding-school, where he influenced many young persons, some of whom became quite influential.

Henry and his wife had six children, but only one of them grew to adulthood. Three of his children died within one week in Dec. 1862, indicating the presence of some lethal infectious disease during that time.
