    "Joe worked for BOWSER company, in charge of the stationery stock. During the depression he got laid off. Then he sold refrigerators for Stuckeys, then worked at Sears selling refridgerators and furnaces as outside saleman. He went to lots of homes to measure and make plans; sometimes, people would take the plans and go elsewhere to save money. Isabel would get mad about this; Joe took it in stride. When the factories began gearing up for wartime production, they dropped lots of domestic product production. Joe went to work at GE as a security guard for the duration of the war. Then he went back to furnace selling.

    He always made friends with everyone he met."
