Joseph Clos (or Close) was born in 1837 to Martin Clos and Magdalena (Leonard) Clos in Blieskastel, Bavaria (now part of Germany). He married Katherine Bieringer in Nov. of 1874 in the vicinity of Blieskastel. Joseph and Katherine immigrated to Detroit, Michigan in April 1875, after his parents were already living there. They had six children, all born in Detroit. Joseph died in 1891 and Katherine in 1927.
