Johannes (John) Clos or Kloss was born 27 Nov. 1831 to Martin Clos and Magalena (Leonard) Clos in Blieskastel, Bavaria (now part of Germany). When he was 24 he sailed from Le Havre, France with his parents and most of his siblings on the ship Harvest Queen and arrived in the United States on 12 Oct. 1853. They settled in Detroit, Michigan, where Johannes died 18 March 1875.
