    LT. JOSEPH(3) CHASE (Ens. Moses(2)), born in Newbury (now West Newbury) 9 Sept. 1705; died there 27 Nov. 1782, aged 79y. 2m.. He married in Newbury, 7 Sept. 1724, MARY MORSE, daughter of Anthony and Sarah (Pike) Morse, born in Newbury, 18 May 1704; died there 18 Mar. 1787; both buried in Ferry Lane Cemetery, West Newbury. He lived on the west half of the Ensign Moses Chase homestead and about 1755 built the house now (1927) owned and occupied by John D. Murphy. His wife was admitted to the Second Church of Newbury 27 Nov. 1726 and he 31 Dec. 1729. He was one of the organizers of the Fourth Church in1731. He made his will, 23 May which was proved 11 Dec. 1782. Therein he mentions his wife Mary, his surviving sons, Jacob, Moody, Caleb and Joseph Jr., and his daughters Mary, Anna, Sarah, Elizabeth and Hannah. Children, born in Newbury (now West Newbury).
