Acquisiton of Land from Orange County, Virginia Records:
- Pages 285-87. 26 Nov. 1741. Thomas Red and Sarah his wife to John Taliaferro, Gent. For 2,000 pounds of tobacco. John Taliaferro 21 Jan. 1734/5 by his deed of gift did grant unto Ann Christopher the wife of John Christopher 88 acres... by John Christopher's branch... to hold during her natural life and after her decease to be equally divided between Ann Christopher's two daughters Alice and Sarah James. Thomas Red hath since intermarried with Sarah James. Moiety of the 88 acres. (signed) Thos. Red., Sarah (X) Red. 26 Nov. 1741. Acknowledged by Thomas Red and Sarah his wife. - Pages 5-6. 21 Jan. 1734/5. John Taliaferro of St. George's Parish, Spotsylvania County, Gent., for good will and affection towards Anna Christopher wife of John Christopher of St. Mark's Parish, in said county, planter. 88 acres where she now dwells to her and her two daughters Elce James and Sarah James after her decease... by the said Christopher's spring branch... Mary Taliaferro wife of John Taliaferro doth freely surrender all her right of dowry.
