LAND SURVEY: 1774: John Kincaid and wife Agness had a survey made for land on Turkey Creek very near Thomas and Mary Kincaid in [later] Greenbrier County, Virginia. [1] [Note: John Kincaid was the brother of Thomas Kincaid] [1]
20 Jan 1780 - We the Commissioners, etc., do certify that John Kincaid is entitled to 168 acres of land by right of setlement before the first day of January 1778, being a survey made for him in the year 1774 lying in Greenbrier County adjoining the land of General Lewis. Given under our hands this 20th day of January 1780, etc. [Greenbrier Co.; Greenbrier County [W.]Va. Land Entry Book 1780-1786. Stinson, Helen S. 1994. p. 8 (original Land Entry Book 1, p. 9)] [NOTE: General Andrew Lewis had a survey 7 Nov 1752 for 400 acres in Greenbrier "on the head springs of Indian Creek."

Will of John Kincaid. Book A, page 285, Madison County, Kentucky
In the name of God Amen, I John Kincaid of Madison County and State of Kentucky being in a low state of health but of perfect memory, and calling to mind it is ordained for all men once to die.
First, I commend my soul to God who gave it and my Body to the earth to be buried at the discretion of my executors nothing doubting but to receive the same at the General Resurrection by the might power of God and such worldly substance as hath pleased God to give me I do bequeath in the following manner [the following three words super-scripted] at my decease. Viz:
First I do bequeath unto my well beloved wife Agness during her life time all in my possession The following property, to wit, one waggon and all her harnessing and five head of horses and four cows with three men's saddles and one woman's saddle with all the farming utensils, also household furniture All the affore property to be appropriated to the purchasing of land (or as much as will be found necessary) at the discretion of my executors and further out of the above property I do bequeath to my daughter Sarah the sum of five shillings and no more and to my daughter Jean I do bequeath five shillings and no more and to my son James I do bequeath five shillings and no more and unto my son John I do bequeath five shillings and no more and to my daughter Elizabeth I do bequeath five shillings and no more and unto my daughter Agnes I do bequeath five shillings and no more and unto my son Andrew I do bequeath five shillings and no more and unto my son Joseph I do bequeath such property real and personal that may be at my wife Agness death and then by paying my younger son Thomas one twenty five pound saddle and bridle with a good suit of clothes with a sufficiency of schooling from the English language and further I do order that my wife Agness shall have power to dispose of such household furniture as she may think adequate unto her children at her discretion and unto my daughter Mary I do bequeath one woman saddle that and no more And I do constitute this to be my last will and testament do appoint Agness executor and Udley Campbell, John Garvin and Thomas Edminston executors given under my hand and seal as my last will and testament this seventeenth day of March one thousand eight hundred and four.

21 May 1784 - Ordered that the sheriff summon William Ewing, James Ewing, Oliver Ewing, Joseph Ewing, John Gray, Thomas Beckett, John Kincaid, Edward Keenan, James Alexander, Williams Gullett, James Thompson, James Byrnside, Francis Fincer, William Blanton, Samuel Caldwell, and John Kincaid, Jr. or any of them being first sworn, to meet upon the lands in dispute of James Callison and John Wiley and settle their respective boundaries according to law and return an account thereof to the court. 20 July 1785, Greenbrier County Marriage Bond: Kincaid, Jane/Jean and Edmiston, Thomas (1785)
Bond: Hand written (probably by John Stuart, by the handwriting) dated 20th day of July 1785. Thomas Edmiston and Samuel Caldwell are bound for the marriage of Thomas Edmiston and Jane Kincaid. The signature of Thomas looks like Th Edmifton; Samuel signed Sam'l Caldwell; each signing for himself in the presence of John Stuart.
Permission Slip: Hand written: "Sir I do hereby certify that I am satisfyd that you should grant licence of marriage for Thomas Edmiston and my daughter Jean Kincaid given under my hand this 16th day of July 1785.

    John [Kincaid[, wife Agnes, lived at the head of Indian Creek next to Samuel Caldwell near Union. In 1803 they sold this land and moved to Madison Co. KY where he died in 1804. He is buried in the same grave yard as John Kincaid, son of Joseph of Albemarle Co. His gravestone says he was born in 1741. John left a will naming wife Agnes and children (identies of spouses from marriage records): Sarah (m Levi Lowe 1785 Grbr Co), Jean (m 1785 Thomas Edmiston Grbr Co.), James, John, Elizabeth (m John Garvin Jr 1792 Grbr Co.), Agnes (m Thomas Woods 1802 Monroe Co.), Andrew (perhaps m 1807 Melinda Crockett Garrard Co.
