- Edmonson, John - born 2/13/1761-2 near Rockbridge [then Augusta] County, Virginia; entered service 1777 in Abbeville District, South Carolina; resided there after Revolutionary War, thence near Holichucky River in Tennessee, thence to Blount County, Tennessee, thence to Lincoln County, Tennessee, thence to Jackson County, Alabama, where granted Pension in 1833; resided 1835 in Fuiton County, Illinois; in 1841 referred to wife, daughter & 2 grandchildren mentioned but not named; resided in Sangamon County, Illinois, 1842 age 82; query letter in file 1929 from Miss Anna L. Bays, Lewistown, Illinois, descendant of a Virginia Revolutionary War soldier John Edmonson/Edmundson who was born near Fredericksburg, Virginia, 164; query letter in file in 1925 from great granddaughter (on mother's side) Mrs. L.E. Shairly, Harlingen, Texas, states her father age 88 then was living in Pasadena, CA, grandson of soldier. F-S322229, R899.
