He was the Horticultural Instructor for County Sligo when he gave a lecture on "Fruit Growing" at the Achonry National School in 1907.3 In 1915, he gave a lecture on beekeeping.5 In 1917, he was the secretary of the Sligo Cottagers Gardening Association.4
