In 1875 they were living in Byrne's Cottage's #4, on Wyattville Road. They were in Smith's Cottage's #4 in 1879. The occupants of the other cottages were the same, so Byrne's Cottage and Smith's Cottage are apparently the same buildings. #4 was vacant in 1870.

On 25 August 1887, when William was born, they were living in Madden's cottages, on Madden's lane between Daleview and the Wyatville Road.

In 1901, they were living at the Golden Bridge Industrial School, Dublin, where John was the gardener. In the 1901 Census, the names of sons John and William are given in an Irish form.
