John Covington, Jr., son of John Covington and Mary Airey, b. ca 1733, Queen Annes County, Maryland. Will dated 9 Jul 1809, proved 11 Aug 1809 (Will Book 1, p. 134 Jan 1809 Prob. Richmond Co., N.C.).
On 21 Sep 1769, sold his inherited interest in "Providence" and "Rowland's Hazard" (Queen Annes Co., Md., Liber No. 11, folio 420). He and wife and four young children accompanied his father-in-law Thomas Dockery and settled in North Carolina. (Anson County Deed Book, by McBee, p. 195 -- says John Covington, age 35, is son-in-law of Thomas Dockery, has children Mathew aged about 10, Hannah aged about 7 and 1/2, Mary Covington aged about 3 and 1/2, Sarah Covington, aged about 3 and 1/2.
