Sarah Covington, dau. of John Covington and his first wife Hannah Dockery, twin to Mary, b. bat 1766 in MY
married William McDowell.
In 1780 her granfather, Col. Thomas Dockery, deeded land in Richmond County, NC to her. In 1807 William McDowell sold this and other land to John Covington.
Wm. McDowell came from Ireland, was "staunch friend of his country, and suffered much from the Tories" (quote from Rev. Alexander Gregg, "History of the Old Cheraws", p. 100).
