John Coup was the least known of the brothers and sisters. He had none of the talents of Will and Sam, he certainly resembled none of the other brothers and sisters in looks. There was a resemblance, a rather striking resemblance between he and Mary Trump Coup, daughter of Ann Marie and Johann Kaupp, if pictures mean anything. He was much taller than the other three boys. He brought his bride, Nettie, to the house, after they were married; and he came home one other time with Aunt Mary, Elizabeth and John when John was about three I can't remember any other time. Before going to Saginaw he was in Dayton for a time. It would seem he was a most successful business man. There was money left for college educations for both children and enough for all of them to live nicely until they were grown.

These notes and comments were made by Virginia Spearman to William A. Coup.
