About John Bush
John Bush, son of Martin Bush and his wife Rachel was born abt. 1783 in Pennsylvania, where the family apparently had resided before migrating to Augusta County in the late 1780's, with Martin's likely brother, Nicholas Bush. John was married three times: first, to Sarah Steele on 3 November 1803 in Augusta County, Virginia; second, to Elizabeth D. Martin on 16 June 1821 in Nelson County, Virginia; and third, to Mary Ann Harris on 4 September 1850, likely in Augusta County, Virginia. Based upon U.S. Census Records, he was a farmer and appears to have fathered three daughters by his first wife Sarah Steele; and three daughters by his second wife Elizabeth D. Martin; and finally had three sons and two daughters with his third wife, Mary Ann Harris. Only the children of his last marriage have been positively identified at this point.
John Bush was a veteran of the War of 1812, as proven by his Pension Application, and died 7 September 1870 in Augusta County, Virginia.
