JESSE ANNIS was born August 8, 1745 at Bradford, Massachusetts; died September 20, 1820 at Thetford, Vermont; married March 1, 1765, Sarah Emerson, who died soon after the birth of their son Joseph; married 2nd, December 15, 1768, Mary Emerson (Sarah's sister) at Haverhill, Massachusetts, and had twelve children, married 3rd, Elizabeth ______, no issue. Jesse was reportedly a tanner by trade, and removed to Londonderry, New Hampshire before the American Revolution. It was there that he signed the Association Test in 1776, a document that which identified him as a patrio Jesse sold his property at Londonderry on May 5, 1789, and removed to Fairlee, Vermont, and than later (1794) to Vershire, Vermont. He is buried at Post Mills cemetery at Thetford and the inscription on his headstone reads: "In Memory of Mr. Jesse Annis Who died Sept. 20 - 1820 Age 75." Sarah and Mary Emerson were the daughters of Peter and Miriam (Marble) Emerson. Sarah was born August 2, 1748 at Haverhill, Massachusetts and died there on July 11, 1766. Mary was born June 9, 1752 at Haverhill and died April 23, 1796 at Vershire, Vermont. References
