JOHN EASTMAN was b. probably in Corinth in Feb.1797. He m. Martha Annis of this town in 1814. Their first child was born here then they went to Buffalo, N.Y. where their next two were born, returning to their old home in Corinth where the rest of their ch. were born. Later in life they moved to East Orange where they both d. - he on Feb. 7, 1867 and his wife on May 25, 1875. Their dau., Annis, m. Dec. 4, 1834 Ransom Dickey of Orange. They had 9 ch. One son, Orsamus, went to California with the 49'ers to dig gold, where he met with fair success. Then he went to Australia. He wrote his mother a letter saying he had struck it rich and would send her a thousand dollars in a day or two. He was never heard from again. The Annis place was between Pike Hill and Cookville - opposite the C. Sleeper farm.
