== Biography ==Jeremiah "Jeremy" Bean, son of Jeremiah Bean and Ruth (Johnson) Bean was born at Exeter, New Hampshire. Jeremy was born in the Bean home in Exter, which was located where the old jail used to be. The house was later used as a counting house by the Old Exeter Manufacturing Company. On June 15, 1749, he married Abigail Prescott, the daughter of Benjamin Prescott and Elizabeth (Coffin) Prescott.

  • Mary "Molly" Bean, Born November 3, 1751, at Exeter;
  • Asa Bean, born at Exeter, New Hampshire
  • Jeremiah Bean, III, born February 13, 1753, at Exeter;
  • Levi Bean, born September 3, 1754 at Exeter;
  • Benjamin Bean, born 1760, at Brentwood;
  • Ruth Bean, born November 12, 1767, at Brentwood;
  • James Bean, died young at Brentwood;
  • Betsey Bean, died young at Brentwood

In 1760, Jeremy moved his family to a farm on the southwest corner of Brentwood and there lived until he died. In 1772, Jeremy bought one quarter interest in a mill known as "Coppy Hold Saw Mill," plus 72 1/2 acres from Tristram Gilman, esq., estate. (Gilman died in 1741) He paid 116 pounds, 5 shillings for it. In 1794, a mill which had been a part of the Gilman Estate, plus five acres of land lying on the other side of the river was deeded by Jeremy to his son, Richard. It was located at what was known as "Coppy Hold." Jeremiah's Will was dated January 24, 1804, and probated March 2, 1808. (He died in January, 1808.) It specifically mentions his wife, his sons Richard, Jeremiah, and Asa, his daughters Mary "Molly," Ruth, and grand-children Obadiah, Levi, Hannah (wife of James Hoyt), Jeremiah, Ai, and Stephen (child of "my son Benjamin, deceased.")
