Facts and Events
From Poole researcher: "Certain sources have guessed his father to be Pierce/Pearce Poole (who was a brother to Jackson and Townsend Poole). Confirmation of James' father as Pearcy Poole was confirmed in the Will of Pearcy Poole, naming his children and his wife's name as 'Mary' (no surname confirmed for her to date, but several sources note it to be "Smith"). Pearcy Poole's Last Will and Testament was created December 5, 1836 in the Town and County of Westchester, New York and proofed the 2nd day of July, 1845 in the village of Norwich in the County of Chenango, state of New York, pages 472-475. The Last Will and Testament of James Poole was proved August 2, 1881, in the town of Afton, County of Chenango, State of New York, Page 25, Volume W. Living children named in the will were: Mary Elizabeth, William Henry, Lewis J.(Jackson?), Ellen A. (McMasters), and Alfred Melvin Poole. Isaac Poole died Jan. 7, 1870-71, and James E. Poole died Oct. 1, 1852, per the data in the Alfred M. Poole family Bible. Federal Census records dated 1840, 1850 and 1860 for Town of Bainbridge, Chenango County, State of New York are another primary source for identifying the location and family of James Poole, as well as Jackson Poole and other family members all living in the same area. It is noted in Antony Maitland/Herbert A. Poole's genealogy research that Mary T. is the daughter of Jackson and she married a "James" Poole. James' father/mother were not identified in their report. That Mary is the daughter of Jackson Poole was confirmed in his Will." James Poole and Mary T. Poole are 1st cousins. Their common ancestors are Solomon Poole-1087 and Lettitia Jackson-1084.
