Facts and Events
From Poole researcher: "Mary is a cousin of James', which it seems was very common for cousins to marry in this era. Her father is Jackson Poole, as confirmed in his Will. Jackson was a son of Solomon Poole(1), and brother to Townsend Poole, and Pearcy (Pearce, Pierce) Poole, and their sisters Mary Poole (Corsa) and Elizabeth Poole (Archer). This data comes from extensive research by Antony Maitland family on the Poole family; our own family Bible of Alfred M. Poole, and other confirming research. Mary's middle initial was originally thought to be an "I", but in the Mills Co. Iowa marriage records of Alfred M. Poole, it is stated as a "T". The "I" probably a mis-reading of the script handwriting in our Bible and of the era. The "T" possibly stands for "Townsend" which was Letitia Jackson's mother's maiden name (ie, Mary Townsend). The Fordham Dutch Reformed Church, NY, shows Mary as a daughter to Jackson Pool[e] and wife, born April 14, 1815 and baptism on October 1, 1815. Mary's name and birthdate, etc. also shown in Alfred Poole family Bible." References
