Will Transcript

I James McNiell of Botetourt County & State of Virginia Being Weak in Body but of Sound Mind and Memory do Maik [make] and appoint this my Last Will and Testament.
First I Recommend my Body to the Earth to be Buried in desant [decent] Burial and my Spirits I Recomend to god he gave it Nothing Doubting but I Shall Receive the same again by the Mighty Power of god and Touching such worly [Worldly] Estate Wherewith God Blest me With in this Life I give and bequeath in the Maner [Manner] and form following first of all I give to my son Joseph McNeill the plantation whereon I now Live Paying my Daughter Mary Ten Pounds When of Age.
Also I give the plantation Whereon William Sheperd Lives to my son John McNeill him paying my Daughter Betsey Ten pounds when of Age.
Also I give unto my Dearly Beloved wife Mary McNeill her Living on Which of the plaises [places] that she will Cuse [choose] to Live on During her Widowhood also four Cows and one horse and a young mare.
And the Rest of the Stock to be Sold by Vandue [Vendue] And Other Houshold afairs and Utinsals Except What Will be for use of Working the Place and I Apoynt [appoint] my Wife Mary and my Brother Johnathan McNiell Executors of this my Last Will and Testament Confirming this and none other to be my Last Will and testament in Witness I have Set my hand and Seale this 30th Day of May 1778.

This Instrument of writing was presented in Court by the Executors therein named and as and for the last Will & Testament of James McNeill deceased & proved by the Oaths of Danl. McNeill & George Graham two of the Witnesses & Ordered to be recorded.
