- Magill, James - entered service Rockingham County, Virginia; received Pension at age 74 in Greene County, Tennessee, 1832; died 8/24/1839; married 3/10/1789 to Mary McMeans, Greene county, Tennessee; widow applied for pension at age 76 in Walker County, Georgia 1844; Pension Application Rejected, less than 6 months service; children's births: Thomas 12/23/1790, Robert 3/24/1792, James 2/2/1795, Nathaniel 3/28/1797, Samuel Wallace 1/17/1799, & Hervey 9/29/1801; one of heirs Thomas Magill (no kinship given), resided Sullivan County, Tennessee, gave power of attorney 1851 to agent to apply for pention; query letter in file in 1937 from descendant Mr. Mary Magill Coppus, Boston, Massachusetts states soldier was born 1756 in Augusta County, Virginia & served in 12th Virginia Regiment; query letter in file 1922 from descendant Miss Bessie Magill, Chattanooga, Tennessee.
