James Harris was baptised on 19th March 1848 at Hunston in Sussex, son of Lucy Harris, late Cousins, formerly Grant, and her second husband George Harris, an agricultural labourer. James appears in the 1851 census living with his parents and siblings at Hunston Common. He has yet to be researched after 1851.
