S. Dickenson, 501 West Pottawamie St., Thursday evening at 8 o'clock for James R. Duncan, who died Tuesday evening at 11:33 p. m. Edward Escolme, pastor of the Friends Church officiated. The body, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Dickinson and Mr. and Mrs. George J. Duncan of Detroit, was taken to Waterloo, IN Thursday morning for burial there. Obituary, Waterloo Press - 14 Aug 1924 James R. Duncan, erstwhile a resident of Waterloo, and for many years a contractor and builder and member of the planing mill firm of Crane and Duncan, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Willis Dickinson, at Tecumseh, MI, Tuesday afternoon. The remains were brought to Waterloo this afternoon, arriving here at 2:50 from the north and will be taken to the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Fausett where they will be kept until tomorrow when the funeral will be held at the Evangelical church at two o'clock in the afternoon. Mr. Duncan had been ill for many months and was almost totally blind. He was about 85 years of age, and for a number of years has made his home with his daughter at Tecumseh. His wife died at their home about two years ago and for a number of years resided in Elkhart and moved to various places in Michigan where he was engaged in the contracting business. He leaves a son, George R. Duncan, of Detroit, Michigan, besides his daughter, Mrs. Dickinson. |
