Early Land Acquisition in Virginia
Acquisition of Land from Northern Neck Warrants & Surveys:
- Jacob Pennywit/Pennywite, 28 Sept. 1753-27 Dec. 1753; 286 acres on North Side of Mill Creek, a branch of North River of Shannandoah; adj. Mr. George Byrne, the said Pennywitz, Richard Morley/Marlin. (Jacob Rowsel mentioned in warrant.) Chain Carriers: Peter Vankeller & George Ghost. Surv. Robert Rutherford. John Pennywit assigned this trace 16 Dec. 1786 "unto my son Jacob Pennewit." Witnesses were George Bird & Philip Wolfenberger.
