Notes from Friend family historian LaVerne Mast Fullmer: His (Jacob's) father died when he was 14 years of age. Several of his brothers had already migrated to Ohio, so his mother sold the plantation in 1811 and moved to Perry County, Ohio with her children, John, William, Jacob and Rosanna.

Jacob and his wife lived on a farm about 2.5 miles southeast of New Salem, where he died at the early age of 37.
