Death of Jacob Friend [22 July 2016]

Jacob Friend died in Fairfield County, Ohio. This is proven by his estate being settled in Fairfield County in 1832. His estate is case no. 798 in Probate Court, in Fairfield County.--BarbR 23:38, 21 July 2016 (UTC)

Do his estate papers specifically mention that he died in Fairfield Co. or merely that his estate was located there?--Tiger 06:49, 22 July 2016 (UTC)

Estates are filed where the person lived. Also, if Jacob died on his farm, it was located in Walnut Township, Fairfield County. Deed records support his farm being in Walnut Township as does a court case, a Petition to Partition Lands.--BarbR 10:02, 22 July 2016 (UTC)

Okay, so we have no concrete evidence that he died in Fairfield Co., only that he resided there at the time of his death. The logical assumption be that he died at home. Just curious - what Friend line do you descend from?--Tiger 10:05, 22 July 2016 (UTC)

I come down through Jonas Friend and his wife Mary Ann Dailey.--BarbR 10:13, 22 July 2016 (UTC)

Determining where someone died before death records/certificates is at best a guess (and even then it is just a little bit less of a guess). Where they are buried is not a good indicator. Where they lived is a better indicator. Is it 100% accurate 100% of the time? No; but, what are we to do?--BarbR 10:20, 22 July 2016 (UTC)
