Facts and Events
Henry Chaffer was baptised on 13th May 1855 at Sidlesham in Sussex, son of Elizabeth Eliza Chaffer, formerly Churcher, and her husband George Chaffer, a miller and carter, who sometimes used his stepfather's surname, Grant. Henry appears in the 1861 census with his parents and siblings at Mill in Sidlesham. Ten years later, the family was living a few miles away at Aldingbourne.
Henry's father died in 1876, when Henry was 21 years old. The 1881 census finds Henry working as a bricklayer and living with his widowed mother in the town of Bognor. He has yet to be researched after 1881.
